A long school day in P.S. 219, Brooklyn — the time for learning and education. Many would agree that school is a peaceful and educational environment that needs no mode of violence. But now City College student Aritchela Paurice would have to disagree. As she recalls it, she was in a “coffee state of mind”; her day was already going terribly (Paurice).

Sitting in her 5th grade English class, Paurice couldn’t help but be irritated by a young Antwon continuously clicking his pen. Says Paurice, “Antwon used to click his pen in class and it was so annoying. I asked to please stop 3 times to which he ignored me and then I threw a table at him”(Paurice). The result of Antwon not stopping when asked of him was him getting a  chair thrown at him.

According to Paurice she feels little to no remorse on the incident and felt that Antwon should have just listened when she politely asked him 3 times. The incident however, forced Paurice to attend anger management courses to have a better reaction in other situations that may arise in the future.

Responses that may seem right in the present moment may not be so rewarding later on. Antwon got a broken ankle and Paurice got anger management.
